The Committee

The IMC Committee is responsible for the day to day running of the club, and is the main point of contact for members.

Ewen Macniven

Ewen Macniven

President

Ewen has enjoyed exploring the Scottish hills in the company of IMC members for many years now. Sometimes he ventures to warmer climes such as the Dolomites, and sometimes he stays nearer home and goes cycling, pictured above near Clava.

Douglas Borthwick

Douglas Borthwick

Secretary

Doug’s mountaineering encompasses 5 years in Kinloss MRT, a Nordic ski-traverse of 480 km, a first British ascent of Manaslu North Peak, first ascents on rock in Lochaber, trekking through S.W. China, then standing at the bottom of the Eiger prior to thumbing it home. Now enjoying the Corbetts, closer to home.

Steve Bell

Steve Bell

Treasurer

Steve is a Munro, Corbett, Graham and Donald Compleatist who is just 12 Irish hills shy of the Furths, numeracy skills that qualify him perfectly for the role of club treasurer. He has walked, climbed and sea kayaked extensively, enjoying nothing better than combining boots and paddles to champion the pursuit of Sea Mountaineering. An expat who has been temporarily living in Lanarkshire for 15 years, he is looking for a ticket home.

Arthur McCourt

Arthur McCourt

Meets Secretary

Arthur has been climbing hills for a long time and is still discovering new bits of Scotland. He has trekked and climbed in the Alps, Nepal, Tibet, Mongolia, Patagonia and the Andes as well as Scotland. He was a member and Depute Leader of Killin Mountain Rescue Team for 13 years. Increasingly creaky knees make sailing in classic boats an attractive complement to the hills.

Robin Forrest

Robin Forrest

Member

Robin has many years experience of introducing young people to the outdoors as a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expedition Leader and Assessor. An old-fashioned Scots stravaiger, he is happiest when out on the hill, any hill, any time, although as a member of the Scottish Cave Rescue Organization he is sometimes to be found crawling around inside them.

Kirsty Griffiths

Kirsty Griffiths

Member

Kirsty G joined the club when she came to Inverness as a medical student and has enjoyed their company ever since. In addition to exploring hills of all sizes on foot all year round, she is a keen mountain biker and very occasional climber. Does not like to define herself as a ‘bagger’ but does like to quietly tick things off...

Dan Simpson

Dan Simpson

Member

Dan is a relative newcomer to the club. He enjoys getting out on the hills at every available opportunity and is currently in a Munro collecting phase. He is aided in his quest by his trusted campervan.
