The Committee

The IMC Committee is responsible for the day to day running of the club and the main point of contact for members.

Richard Hartland

Richard Hartland

President

Richard climbed his first Munro, Ben Nevis, the day that man landed on the moon and having spent the previous night in jail. It was some twenty years before he climbed his next and has been wandering ever since. He has done the Munros, Corbetts and has three Grahams to do. He had various roles, including President, in the Edinburgh Mountaineering Club and has been a member of the Inverness Mountaineering Club for eight years. He is a retired local government town planner.

Robin Forrest

Robin Forrest

Secretary

Robin has been an IMC member since 1989 and is a former club President and Secretary. An Accredited Expedition Assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and a holder of the Mountain Leader (S) Award, he has had many years of experience leading groups of young people camping and hillwalking around the Highlands. A Munro “compleatist”, Robin’s mountaineering interests revolve around mountain walking, though as an occasional caver (and member of the Scottish Cave Rescue Organization) he is also sometimes to be found crawling about inside them. He describes himself as an “old-fashioned Scottish hill gangrel” who just likes being out on the hill – any hill, any time.
